SUMMARY OF BC COMMONS LICENSE (Version 2.0)

If you are a BC public post-secondary educational institution or if you have been designated by the Industry Training Authority (“ITA”) as a trainer under the Industry Training Authority Act (British Columbia), you are permitted:

  • to copy the work
  • to make derivative works
  • to use the work or derivative works only as part of a publicly offered credit or non-credit course or program which is provided by you

Under the following conditions:

  • You must ensure that you have obtained all necessary rights for any third party materials that are included in the work.
  • You must give the original author credit.
  • If you make a derivative work, you must provide a copy to BCcampus for distribution under the terms of the BC Commons License.
  • Any re-use or distribution must be on the terms of the BC Commons License.
  • Any of these conditions can be waived if you get permission from the Licensor.

If you are an individual enrolled with a BC public post-secondary educational institution for full time or part time continuing studies or if you are an individual registered with the ITA as a trainee, as defined in the Industry Training Authority Act (British Columbia) (which includes a registered apprentice), you are permitted:

  • to use the Work for personal educational purposes
  • to use the Work to assess whether You wish to take a course of studies relating to the subject matter of the Work or offered by an individual involved in the creation of the Work

Under the following conditions:

  • You must not make derivative works.
  • You must not distribute the Work to any person, or display the Work on-line or otherwise.

Your fair dealing and similar rights are in no way affected.
