Canadian Coast Guard Ensign and Levels of Responsibility
In the military insignia or epaulettes are used to represent ranks. In the Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) they represent levels of responsibility and commensurate salary levels.

Branch is denoted by coloured cloth between the gold braid. Deck officers, helicopter pilots, hovercraft pilots and JRCC/MRSC marine SAR controllers do not wear any distinctive cloth.
