File Management
Identifying a Child Directory |
The child directory is one step "down"
in the directory tree display, or to the right in the full path of the current
directory. Two ways to identify this are:
(1) The files pane displays folders and files in the current directory.
Therefore, any folders displayed there represent child directories of
the current directory. [Note that although CPSC150 is selected, in the image on the left, it
is not the current directory. It is the selected object in the right hand
pane. The current directory is named in the address bar.
(2) Child directories are below and to the right of their parent, in
the standard directory tree display for File Manager. Note: this is not always true of all directory tree
displays in all programs across all operating systems. For example, you
might see the whole affair tipped to the left. You can still identify
parents and children if you follow the lines and levels.
Note expanding and collapsing sub-trees may be necessary to set up a display the way you want it.
